The Samsung Note 8 looks absolutely stunning with zero side bezels and very, very minimal top and bottom bezels. The edge to edge screen is pure pleasure to look at. The phone packs a huge screen in a relatively smaller body and the screen to body ratio is outstanding! If you have been looking for a way to achieve an even minimal look, there is way now. In this tutorial, we will tell you how to hide the navigation bar and status bar on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 without root!

This mod/trick is similar to the immersive mode found on rooted Android phones. The Status Bar and Navigation Bar simply auto hide and will come up when you swipe on the screen edges. Do not worry, this WILL NOT permanently remove your Status Bar or Navigation Bar. 🙂
No Root RequiredThis trick does not need your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus to be rooted, enjoy!
Enable USB Debugging
Before proceeding, you must enable USB Debugging mode on your device. Follow the below steps to do the same:
- Go to Settings > About Phone > Software information
- Tap on the ‘Build number’ seven times until you see the text ‘You are now a developer’.
- Go back. Tap on ‘Developer Options’
- Here, look for ‘USB Debugging‘ option and tap on it to enable the same.
Setup ADB and Fastboot
This tutorial needs ADB to work. If you do not have ADB and Fastboot installed on your PC, go to the below link to download and setup the same.
Follow the below steps to hide navigation bar and status bar on your Galaxy Note 8:
Step 1: Connect your device to your PC.
Step 2: If this is the first time you are connecting the phone to your PC after enabling USB Debugging, you will be prompted on your phone asking ‘Allow USB Debugging?‘. Tap on ‘Always allow from this computer’ and tap on ‘OK‘. Ignore this step if already done.
Step 3: Go to the folder where ADB is installed on your PC.
Step 4: Open command window inside this folder: While holding down Shift Key, right-click on the empty space on the folder and select ‘Open command window here‘.
Step 5: Run the following command in the command prompt to check whether your device is properly connected to your PC.
If your device is properly connected, the device’s serial number will be shown on the command prompt.
Step 6: Based on your choice, you can choose to hide just the status bar or navigation bar or both. Choose and run the desired command from the below list, as per your need.
To hide only the Status Bar:
adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.status=*
To hide only Navigation Bar:
adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.navigation=*
To hide both the Status Bar and Navigation Bar:
adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.full=*
To Revert Back to Stock:
adb shell settings put global policy_control null*
And you’re done! Enjoy the new minimal look on your device! 🙂
