One of the best things (or THE best thing?) about Android is that it allows users to customize it anyway they want. You can change the theme, change the icon layout, add or remove shortcuts from the Quick Setting, change the way your icons look, change the size of the icons, etc. Wow, that’s a lot! Essentially, no two android phones are ever the same. Every phone is unique. Uniquely YOURS! You can change it to match your style or personality.
Now, coming to the topic, the first thing you notice as soon as you unlock your phone is probably your wallpaper and the icons in the home screen. The default icons that come with android are in no way any lesser than any icon packs out there but it’s human nature to get bored by something easily. Given that you look at your phone, like a billion times every day, it does get boring to look at the same icons over and over, all the time!
That is exactly where custom icon packs come in place. There are thousands of icon packs out there, no matter what you are looking for, you will find one you will fall in love with.
What is a custom icon pack?
A custom icon pack is like any other app that you have installed on your android device. It contains a set of contains (ranging from hundreds to few thousands) which will replace your existing icons that comes with your phone.
Are they free?
As with any other app, there are free and paid icon packs. Paid icon packs tend to have more icons than the free ones, almost always (Thank you, Captain Obvious!). But that not necessarily mean that the free icon packs are bad or will always have very less number of icons. No sir. There a lot of great icon packs, which are absolutely free!
How to apply these icon packs on your phone?
First things first – to change the icons in your phone, you need a custom Android Launcher.
Because, the one that comes with your phone doesn’t allow changing icons (mostly, except a very few devices like Oneplus 3) and provide very little customization options. So before proceeding you need to download a custom Android Launcher. I strongly recommend ‘Nova Launcher’. For this tutorial, I am going to use the same and an Icon pack called ‘Moonshine – Icon Pack’. You can download them from below links:
Moonshine – Icon Pack:
Now, assuming you have installed the above apps, let us being the journey.
