Steps to Unlock Bootloader of Redmi Note 4
Step 1. Go to Mi unlock website (link to the website) and click Unlock Now and sign in with your Mi account and request to unlock the bootloader.
Step 2. Fill the details requested and click Apply Now. After that wait for some time and you will receive an SMS that “Your unlock request has been approved”. Now Sign in with the same Mi account on your device.
Step 3. Now download and extract the MI unlock tool .zip. After extracting you will get a folder named with MiFlashunlock. Now open the MIflashUnlock folder and run the MIFlashunlock.exe application.
Step 4. After opening the application click on Agree and Sign in with the same MI account that is on your device. Now your account will have permission to Unlock Bootloader.
Step 5. Power off your device and boot it into Fastboot mode by
Hold Volume Down + Power off button simultaneously for 2-4 secs
Step 6. Once your device is in Fastboot mode connect your device to your PC via USB cable. Now the app will detect your device and display a message ” Phone Connected “. There will be an ” Unlock” button click on that and wait for some time.
Step 7. Now a message will be displayed “Unlocked Successfully “ and Done.
Congratulations! The Bootloader is been successfully unlocked.
Steps to install TWRP Recovery on Redmi Note 4
Step 1. Make sure the Android USB drivers are properly installed.
Step 2. Download the TWRP Recovery.img file [from the downloads section above] and rename it to recovery.img.
Step 3. Make sure ADB and Fastboot are installed properly.
Step 4. Now copy the recovery.img to adb–fastboot-tool-2016.
Step 5. Power off your device and connect it to PC via USB cable.
Step 6. Now open Command prompt window here by
Hold Shift key + Right click and click > Open Command prompt Window here
Step 7. Now type the command given down to boot your device into Bootloader mode
adb reboot bootloader
Step 8. To flash the TWRP Recovery, type the following command
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
step 9. Done now reboot your device
Congratulations! You have successfully installed TWRP Recovery on your device.
Steps to Root Redmi Note 4
Step 1. Download the Supersu.zip file and place this file into your device’s internal storage.
Step 2. Now boot into Bootloader mode and click on > Recovery it will boot your device into TWRP Recovery mode
Step 3. Once you are in Recovery Mode, Click Install > Navigate and Select Supersu.zip file > Swipe right to confirm install > click on Reboot
