How to Change Font on Any Samsung Device without Root

Samsung makes some of the most popular devices right now. It is also probably THE most popular Android manufacturers at the moment. Samsung has improved very much on design, both in the hardware and software front. We all remember how bloated and heavy Samsung TouchWiz felt like and how good is Samsung Experience right now. Also, like many other manufacturers, Samsung has also adapted to the current trend and has introduced options to theme their phone. There are several free and paid Samsung Themes available on the Samsung store and on the internet. Today, we shall show you how to change the font on your Samsung device without root. That’s right, no root required for this method!

Fonts for Samsung Devices

If you have observed closely there are not many options when it comes to custom fonts Samsung devices. Sure, there are many Samsung Themes available but none of them actually change the fonts on your Samsung device. That is where Wings Samsung Fonts comes into the picture! How to Change Font on Samsung Device

Method 1: Using Substratum [Recommended]

  1. Download and install SamsungSans from Galaxy Apps: Download
  2. Download and install the Substratum Theme Engine: Download
  3. Download and install sungstratum addon for Substratum: Download
  4. If you want help in setting up substratum on your Samsung device, refer to this guide here: Guide to Install Substratum for Samsung Devices.
  5. Download and install the [latest] Wings Samsung Fonts.apk from here: Download. Note: There will be a version which says ‘968’; ignore that. Download the latest version of the APK file without the ‘968’.
  6. Open Substratum and install Font Packages. [You can install multiple fonts in one go!]
  7. Go to Settings > Display > Screen zoom & font.
  8. Choose whatever font you want and apply.
  9. Done! Read the note below.

Important Note: In the font-apply screen, the fonts will/may be listed twice. It is a known bug. One of the two fonts will not apply. In that case, simply choose the other one with the same name and it will apply!

Method 2: Without Substratum

This method is not recommended by the developer, but you could use this if you want.

  1. Download and install SamsungSans from Galaxy Apps: Download
  2. Download and install the [latest] Wings Samsung 968 Fonts.apk from here: Download. Note: There will be a version which says ‘968‘; download that. Download the latest version of the APK file with the ‘968’. Also, there will be two different versions – one for Android Oreo and the other for Android Nougat. Download accordingly.
  3. Go to Settings > Display > Screen zoom & font.
  4. Choose and apply the font you like!
  5. Done!
