How to Install OnePlus 5 Android Oreo Open Beta 1 Update

The Android Oreo Open Beta for OnePlus 3 and 3T has been available for quite a while now. Users of OnePlus 5T have been asking for Android Oreo update for the phone for a long time now and their prayers are finally answered. The Android Oreo update for OnePlus 5T comes with all the Oreo goodness we have seen during the Google’s announcement. Method 1: Installing via Local Upgrade

Step 1. Download the ROM package from the link in the Download section.

Step 2. Connect your device to the PC and enable File Transfer mode, and transfer the ROM file to the root of the internal storage (by root, means outside all the folders)

Step 3. Disconnect the device from PC.

Step 4. Go to Settings > System updates.

Step 5. Tap on the gear icon on the top-right of the screen >Select Local upgrade (system will automatically detect the ROM file).

Step 6. Click on the file name and tap UPGRADE NOW.

Now your device will reboot into the recovery and install the OnePlus 5 update. Once done, your One Plus 5 will have the updated ROM.

Congratulations! You have successfully installed the update on your One Plus 5.

Method 2: Using TWRP Recovery

Step 1. Download the ROM package from the link in the Download section.

Step 2. Now copy the downloaded ROM file to the internal storage of your OnePlus 5.

Step 3. Boot your device into TWRP Recovery by

  • Enable Developer options by the following guide – Link to guide.
  • Go to Setting > About PhoneDeveloper Options and enable the Advanced reboot.
  • Long press Reboot > Bootloader > Touch to reboot > Select Recovery.

Step 4.  If you’re coming from a ROM other than OxygenOS, then go to Wipe > Advanced Wipe. Select the options (Dalvik/ART cache, System, Data, Cache)  shown in the image below and wipe the device.

Step 5. Once you are done, Click Install > Navigate and select the file > Swipe right to confirm.

Step 6. Once the file has been selected, tap on Wipe Dalvik/cache.

Step 7. Finally, Click the Reboot System button. Let the process get complete and done.

Congratulations! You have successfully installed the update on your One Plus 5.
