How to Root any Android using Magisk 14.5 Beta Update

Magisk is very much loved by Android developers and especially by tech geeks. It has various features one of the best is Magisk hide it allows users to hide root and access the apps which are banned for root users example – Pokemon Go, Tez and many more. It is also the best alternative to the Super Su and having a lot more features than Super Su. Lets a quick view of the features of Magisk new beta 14.5 update.

Prerequisites

  • Take full backup of your data
  • Bootloader must be unlocked of your device
  • If you are using method 2 the make sure youe have ADB and Fastboot drivers installed on you PC.

Method 1: Rooting using TWRP Recovery

Step 1. Download Magisk 14.5 Beta flashable zip – Download it here.

Step 2. Now connect your device to PC via USB cable.

Step 3. Copy the downloaded zip file to the internal storage and remember the path where you copied it.

Step 4. Disconnect your Android device from PC, Reboot your Android phone into TWRP using the special buttons combination like Volume Down key + Power off key (the buttons may differ per device). If you know the buttons then you and skip Step 5,6.

Step 5. If you don’t know the buttons connect your device to PC via USB cable, Go to the ADB and Fasboot folder and open command window here

Hold Shift key+ Right click and select Open Command Window here 

Step 6. To boot in TWRP mode type the command as

adb reboot Recovery

Step 7. Once you are in Recovery mode

Click on Install > Navigate and select the downloaded Magisk zip file > Swipe right to confirm flash.

Stet 8. Once the process is complete, click on the ‘Wipe Dalvik/cache’.  Finally, click on Reboot and done.

Congratulations! you have successfully Rooted your device using Magisk.

Method 2: Patch Stock Boot Image

Step 1. Get your stock boot.img files check with your device manufacturer. For Nexus and Pixel phones – Download link.

Step 2. Copy the downloaded boot.img file in your phone’s internal memory.

Step 3. Download and install Magisk Manager on your device – Download link.

Step 4. Launch the app, on the app’s main screen, click the ‘Install’ button. Tap on ‘Install’ again and select ‘Patch Boot Image File’.

Step 5. Navigate to the internal storage and select the boot.img for patching.

Step 6. Once the boot image patching is done, the new ‘patched_boot.img’ file will be saved in ‘MagiskManager’ folder in the internal storage on the device.

Step 7. Now we need to flash this ‘patched_boot.img’. Connect your device to PC and transfer the ‘patched_boot.img’ into the ADB and Fastboot folder. Disconnect your device and boot your device into fastboot mode and again connect your device to PC.

Step 8. Go to the ADB and Fasboot folder and open command window here

Hold Shift key+ Right click and select Open Command Window here

Step 9. Now to flash ‘patched_boot.img’ or to root your Android with Magisk execute the command,

fastboot flash boot patched_boot.img

Step 10. Once the process is completed reboot your device by using the command

fastboot reboot

Congratulations! you have successfully Rooted your Android device using Magisk.
