Prerequisites

  1. This Firmware file is only for Honor 8 Pro DUK-L09 variants. Do not try to install this on any other device/model.

1. Download 8.0.0.320 Oreo Update for Honor 8 Pro DUK-L09 8.0.0.320 [C900log]

2. Download Recovery files [The name of the files should be kept intact]

How to Install Android 8.0 Oreo On Honor 8 Pro [8.0.0.320]

Method 1:

  1. First, you need to Unlock Bootloader of Honor 8 Pro.
  2. Make sure you have TWRP Recovery installed on your Honor 8 Pro. If not, follow this guide: How to Root Honor 8 Pro and Install TWRP Recovery.
  3. Make sure you have ADB and Fastboot installed on your PC. If not, follow this guide: Download Minimal ADB and Fastboot.
  4. Copy the downloaded Recovery files to the folder where ADB and Fastboot are installed.
  5. Create a folder named HWOTA on your PC. Copy the three downloaded firmware files to this folder.
  6. Boot your device into TWRP recovery:
    1. Switch off your device.
    2. Press and hold Volume UP button + Power Button.
    3. Leave the Power Button as soon as Honor logo appears and keep holding Volume Up button till you are in TWRP Recovery.
  7. Once you are in TWRP, swipe to allow modifications when asked.
  8. Tap on Wipe > Format data and type in ‘yes’ to decrypt storage. This will completely wipe your device.
  9. Copy the HWOTA [With three firmware files] folder to the root of your Internal Storage.
  10. Copy the two recovery files to the root of your Internal Storage. [Note: DO NOT place them in any folder].
  11. In TWRP, tap Advanced > Terminal.
  12. Once you are in TWRP Terminal, execute the below commands one by one.
    mkdir /data/update
    mv /sdcard/HWOTA /data/update/HWOTA

    The first command will create a folder named ‘update’ inside the ‘data’ folder of your device. The second command will move all the firmware files to the ‘update folder’.

  13. Next, Flash both the recoveries via TWRP terminal using the following commands:
    dd if=/sdcard/DUK-RECOVERY-NoCheck.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/recovery_a
    dd if=/sdcard/DUK-RECOVERY2-NoCheck.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/recovery2_a
  14. Once the recovery images are flashed, delete them from your device.
  15. Next, execute the following terminal commands one by one to add the zip files to the recovery command:
    echo --update_package=/data/update/HWOTA/update.zip >> /cache/recovery/command
    echo --update_package=/data/update/HWOTA/update_data_full_public.zip >> /cache/recovery/command
    echo --update_package=/data/update/HWOTA/update_full_DUK-L09_hw_normal.zip >> /cache/recovery/command
  16. Finally, reboot your Honor 8 Pro into recovery mode by executing the below command:
    reboot recovery
  17. Once you execute the above command, the device will reboot into EMUI recovery and will automatically install Android Oreo on Honor 8 Pro.

Method 2:

  1. First, you need to Unlock Bootloader of Honor 8 Pro.
  2. Make sure you have TWRP Recovery installed on your Honor 8 Pro. If not, follow this guide: How to Root Honor 8 Pro and Install TWRP Recovery.
  3. Download the Honor 8 Pro Android Oreo Update Firmware file from the downloads section above and copy them to your phone.
  4. Boot your device into TWRP recovery:
    1. Switch off your device.
    2. Press and hold Volume UP button + Power Button.
    3. Leave the Power Button as soon as Honor logo appears and keep holding Volume Up button till you are in TWRP Recovery.
  5. Once you are in TWRP, tap on Install > Select the update.zip and ‘Swipe to confirm flash’.
  6. Just like above, flash both the update_full_DUK-L09_hw_normal.zip and update_data_full_public.zip files.
  7. Wait patiently for the flashing process to complete.
  8. Once the flashing completes, reboot your device.
  9. Done!
