Install OxygenOS Open Beta 2 on OnePlus 5 [Android 8.0 Oreo]

Today, the Chinese manufacturer has released the second open beta update based on Android Oreo for OnePlus 5.

The users have been asking for the Android Oreo update for OnePlus 5 since a long time and OnePlus have finally answered when it released the Android Oreo Based Oxygen OS beta for OnePlus 5. Today, it has rolled out another update – Android Oreo-based Oxygen OS Beta 2 for the OnePlus 5.

How to Install Oxygen OS Open Beta 2 on OnePlus 5

Depending on your current setup, there are two ways by which you can install the update on your OnePlus 5.

Which method to choose?
  • Method 1: For those on Stock Open Beta 1/OxygenOS 4.5.15 or below + Stock Recovery
  • Method 2: For those with Custom ROM + TWRP recovery

Method 1: Using Stock Recovery/Local Upgrade

  1. Make sure you have downloaded the zip file from the downloads section above.
  2. Copy the downloaded zip file to the Internal Storage of your device [should not be inside any folder].
  3. Disconnect your device from PC if it is connected.
  4. Go to Settings > System Updates.
  5. Press the gear icon on the top right corner > tap on ‘Local upgrade‘.
  6. The phone will automatically detect the Full ROM Zip you copied.
  7. Tap on ‘UPGRADE NOW’ button to install OxygenOS Open Beta 2 on OnePlus 5.

Your device will now boot into stock recovery and the update will be installed automatically. Once the update completes, the device will automatically reboot.

Method 2: Using TWRP Recovery

  1. Make sure you have downloaded the zip file from the downloads section above.
  2. Copy the downloaded zip file to the Internal Storage of your device [should not be inside any folder].
  3. Disconnect your device from PC if it is connected.
  4. Reboot your OnePlus 5 into TWRP Recovery:
    1. Turn off your device.
    2. Wait for a couple of seconds. Press and hold Volume Down + Power button at the same time.

  6. Once the wipe is complete, go to TWRP main screen by pressing the home button.
  7. Tap on ‘Install‘ > Browse and select the zip file which you have downloaded from the downloads section above > Swipe right at the bottom of the screen to install OxygenOS Open Beta 2 on OnePlus 5.
  8. Once the process completes, tap on the ‘Reboot System‘ button.
  9. Done!

The first boot after installation may take longer than usual, be patient. Congratulations, you have successfully installed Android Oreo-based OxygenOS Beta 2 on your OnePlus 5.
