A detailed step by step guide on how to root Samsung Galaxy Note8 Snapdragon variant [N950U/ N950U1/ N950W]. Samsung one of the trusted and preferable brands in Android devices. This year it has launched the beast which is Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Samsungs device’s security is maintained by the Koren manufacturer which is known as Knox. It is hard to Root the devices having this security since it can trip it and that disable Samsung Pay permanently.
Previously SamFAIL was available but it failed to root Galaxy Note 8 running on the latest firmware but there’s a newer updated version available now. We will use this version for rooting your Galaxy Note 8. Just follow the steps given down to root galaxy note 8 and you will root your device within no time so let’s get going.

Steps to Root How to root Galaxy Note 8 [Snapdragon]
To make this guide more simple and readable we have divided it into parts
Part 1: Flashing N8 SamFAILV2 SYSTEM Odexed
Step 1: Download the N8_SamFAILV2_SYSTEM Odexed file from the download section.
Step 2: Extract the system.tar and PIT files from the zip file you just downloaded.
Step 3: Download the Odin file from the download section. Now launch Comsey ODIN on your PC.
Step 4: Boot your Note 8 into Download mode by,
- Power off your device
- Press and hold the Bixby and Volume Down buttons simultaneously and Hold the Power button to switch on your device. You can leave the keys once you see a message displayed on the screen
- Now press Volume Up to boot into download mode.
Step 5: Once you are in download mode connect it to your PC via a USB cable.
Step 6: If your device is connected, you will see that the ID:COM port turns blue.
Step 7: Now Click on the AP button and select the extracted system.tar file from where you stored it.
Step 8: Go to the Pit tab on the left and click OK or Close on the warning box, Click on the PIT button and select the extracted PIT file.
Step 9: Now go to the Options tab(at the left) and select the following by clicking on the checkboxes :
- Auto Reboot
- F. Reset Time
- Nand Erase All
Step 10: Click on the Start button.
Step 11: It will show a FAIL! message when the process gets completed but no need to worry.
Step 12: Now Boot your device into Download Mode again (it will say it is in an emergency mode) but this too is expected.
Part 2: Flash N8 SamFAILV2 FIRMWARE
Step 1: Download and extract the N8_SamFAILV2_FIRMWARE on your PC from the download section.
Step 2: Go to ODIN, click Reset or close it and open ODIN again.
Step 3: Now to select the firmware from the location where to store it, Click on the BL button and select the bl.tar file. now Click on the AP and CP buttons and select the ap.tar, and cp.tar files respectively.
Step 4: Go to the Options tab and now select only Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time option. Remember Do not select Nand Erase All.
Step 5: Now Click on Start now to start the process.
Step 6: Now you will see a PASS! message and your device will be rebooted automatically.
Step 7: Once it is rebooted, go through the setup process until the home screen appears.
Step 8: Find the SuperSU app in your app drawer and open it. You will be asked to update the SU binary. Click on CONTINUE and then select NORMAL.
Step 9: Once the SuperSU binary is updated, it will ask you to REBOOT your device reboot it.
Step 10: Repeat the update step no 9 if it aks to update SU binary again after reboot.
Note: It may ask you to update the Su binary again and again 2-4 time do it.
