Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy Note 8 represent the best Samsung has to offer, at the moment. The Galaxy S8 and Note 8 are really great phones with great hardware and good software. Until over a year ago, Samsung phones came loaded with TouchWiz. TouchWiz was heavy, bloated and badly needed an overhaul. Smasung Experience replaced TouchWiz in the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8. Samsung Experience was not only lighter, it also offered theming capabilities. There was also a nice little option to change the color of navigation bar even if you do not change themes. In this article, we will tell you how to get back the black navigation bar on Galaxy S8 and Note 8.
When Samsung Experience was first introduced, there was an option under the display settings, to change the color of the navigation bar. The option had different shades of white along with black color. But then, Samsung removed the black color with a software update.
Once possible reason would be to prevent burn-in problems which are really common among AMOLED Panels. While it was thougtful of Samsung to do that, many users felt it was not necessary to completely remove the option. A lot users really loved the black color option. To get back the black navigation bar on Galaxy Note 8 and S8, we are going to make use of a simple APK made by XDA Senior Memebr ghammer80. Follow the below steps:
- Download a small app from here: TFX-S8-Note8-NavBar-Black.apk.
- Copy the downloaded APK file to your Galaxy S8/Note8.
- Install the APK file.
- Go to Settings > Display > Navigation Bar. You should now see the black color option for naviagtion bar here, which was previously not here.
- Simply tap on the black color and the navigation bar will turn to black. Enjoy!
Even if it is not that common, it recommended to use the white navigation bar from time to time, to avoid any potential burn in issues. We don’t wanna ruin that beautiful screen, do we? This is the easiest way to get back black color navigation bar on Galaxy S8 and Note 8.
