Fix Moisture Detected in Charging Port Error on Samsung Smartphones

Here’s a list of troubleshooting tips you can follow to get fix the Moisture Detected in Charging Port Error on Samsung Smartphones. This error is more common than one might think and can get on your nerves, especially when there is evidently no moisture in the charging port at all.

Latest Samsung flagship devices are by default IP68 Water Resistance certified – technically this makes them resistant to dust and water up to a certain extent. The keyword to note here is ‘resistant’. That’s right. It only offers resistance to dust and water to a certain limit and that does not make the device waterproof. That means that water can still enter your device and cause potential water damage to your device.

So, when a certain amount of water actually enters the charging port, you will get the infamous ‘Moisture has been detected’ error on your Samsung Galaxy device. This also means that you can no longer charge your Samsung Galaxy. If you have encountered this error, go through the troubleshooting steps we have laid on here in this article which will help you get rid of Samsung Moisture error.

How to Fix Moisture Detected in Charging Port Error

Sometimes, the error shows up for a while and goes away by itself. We could think of no other logical reason behind this except for ‘software glitch’. If the error is persistent and does not go away, follow the below steps to fix Moisture Detected in Charging Port error.

Fix 1 | Clean the charging port

Step 1. Get a small piece of tissue paper and insert the same into the charging / USB port. Tissues papers have the ability to quickly absorb water. Leave it there for a while so that it can absorb any water or dampness that might be causing this issue. Repeat the process for a couple more time, to make sure we have got all the water out of the port.

Step 2. Blow dry air into the charging port to get rid of any other elements that might be causing this issue. It may not be visible to the naked eye, but it has happened to me more than once. Make sure there are no objects that are blocking the connectors from making proper contact.

Step 3. Look closely into the charging port and make sure there are no pins or any sort of physical damage to charging port. If you seem to find any physical damage, make sure to take your device to the authorized service center. We do not recommend taking any actions at this point.

Fix 2 | Make sure the cable/charger are clean

There are some cases where this error is triggered due to the issues with the charger or the cable used to charge the device. If any one of them has even a little bit of moisture, it will have the same effect as if the moisture is found on the charging port of the device. First of all, take a close look at the adapter and make sure there is no wetness around the same. If at all you find any sort of liquid around the adapter, try to clean the same with a small piece of tissue paper.

And for the cable, make sure both ends of the cable are clean and does not have any sort of water contact to them. Cleaning the cable could be tricky as they the ports are relatively small. If possible, thoroughly clean both ends (inside and out) of the cable using a dry tissue paper and make sure there is no debris inside them.

Fix 3 | Make sure there is no Liquid Damage to the device

Follow the below steps to check the Liquid Damage Indicator:

Step 1. Safely remove the SIM Card Tray and look for a small sticker around the SIM Slot.

Step 2. The sticker should be white in color which represent that there has been no water damage to the device. If the color is anything but white, for example, red or pink or purple, this means the device has suffered water damage. At this point, we recommend taking your device to an authorized service center.

Fix 4 | Bypass the ‘moisture detected’ warning

We only recommend following the below steps only if you are 100% sure that there are absolutely no water damage of any sorts to your device.

Step 1. Plug in the charger to a wall outlet.

Step 2. Connect your phone to your charger.

Step 3. At this point, you will get an error stating ‘Moisture detected on charging port’ on your device and the device will not charge at all.

Step 4. Reboot your device while the charger is still connected to it.

Step 5. Post reboot, the device should start charging normally.

Fix 5 | Charge from Safe Mode

A lot many of the additional features are not usually made available in the Safe Mode. Safe Mode only loads with what is absolutely needed to keep the device up and running. Turns out that the service which is responsible for throwing the ‘Moisture detected’ error does not load in the Safe Mode. Which means that you can freely charge your device without being bothered by the error.

We only recommend following the below steps only if you are 100% sure that there are absolutely no water damage of any sorts to your device.

Step 1. Power off your Samsung Galaxy device.

Step 2. Press and Hold the Power key past the model name screen.

Step 3. When the ‘Samsung’ logo appears on the screen, release the Power Key.

Step 4. Immediately after releasing the Power Key, press and hold the Volume Down key. Continue to hold the Volume down till the device boots up fully.

Step 5. Now the device would have booted up in Safe Mode. You should see ‘Safe Mode’ is displayed at the bottom left corner of the device.

Step 6. Release the Volume Down key and proceed to charge your device.

Fix 6 | Reset your Samsung Galaxy Device

Make a complete backup of your device before proceeding.

Step 1. Switch off your device.

Step 2. Press and hold Volume Up + Bixby Button and then press the Power Button.

Step 3. When the green Android logo appears, release all the keys. Please note that ‘Installing system update’ screen will be shown for about 60 seconds before the recovery options are shown.

Step 4. Use the Volume Key to navigate to ‘wipe data/factory reset’ option.

Step 5. Use the Power Key to select the option.

Step 6. Use the Volume Key again to select ‘Yes — delete all user data’ option.

Step 7. Once again use the Power Key to select the option to initiate the reset.

Step 8. Reboot the device once the process is completed.
