Android has come a long way as an operating system and also as an ecosystem in the past few years. From a couple of hundred devices a decade ago to over one billion devices now, the journey of Android has been nothing but crazy.

Google has really put a lot of time, money, and research into making Android a better home for all the smartphones out there. What is Android System Webview?
Android System Webview is a core system component in the Android Operating system which allows the Android apps to natively show the webpages inside the app without having the open the browser separately.
There are two ways by which the users consume web content on Android: 1. Via the traditional browsers apps that we download from the Google Play Store and 2. Through an Android app that incorporates Android System Webview in it.
How is Android System Webview Served?
Android System WebView was initially one of the core components of the operating system and that means that the component would only be updated with the release of a new version of Android. Starting with Android 5.0 Lollipop, Google decided to separate WebView from the core operating system and decided to ship it as a separate app. This way WebView can be distributed through the Google Play app store and can be updated whenever needed without having to wait for a new Android version release. This is good news for the users whose Android devices run newer versions of the operating system. If a bug is found in the WebView component, Google can push out a fix right away and the users can get it at the Google Play store and install the same.
