Xiaomi Confirms The Name Of Brand’s Next Flagship Redmi K20; The ‘K’ Stands For Killer

Xiaomi is ready with their next flagship phone of 2019. They have decided to name it the “Redmi K20” (a serious let down). Moreover, “K” stands for “Killer”. Redmi K20 is going to feature the Snapdragon 855. In a report by 91mobiles, Xiaomi’s CEO put up a quiz on Weibo (Chinese Twitter) asking the people to choose between four names for its next flagship. The options were X20, K20, P20 (Really!!),  and T20 (you know what I mean).

Redmi K20 - Killer

Now, the official from Xiaomi has stated that the company’s new flagship will indeed be called the K20 where the K stands for “Killer”. This meaning for K has been specifically chosen as all the smartphones in this K line up is going to be flagship killers. However, as much as I am amused, there was no explanation for why the digit “20” is used. Still, the launching date has not been revealed and we have to wait for the same.

Another news report from 91mobiles state that there will be not one but two phones under the K20 lineup and the Pro version will be the one with the Snapdragon 855 SoC. And, the normal K20 will come with the Snapdragon 730 SoC under the hood. Furthermore, the standard K20 is expected to come in three variants – 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage, 6GB RAM/128Gb storage, and 8GB RAM/ 256 Storage. While the pro version will have additionally 8GBRAM/128GB Storage option.

There will be 3 color options available for the people to choose from – Red, Blue, and Carbon Fiber. Both the models are expected to have 6.39-inch Full HD+ AMOLED Display with a notch-less design with a pop-up camera. The phone is also reported to come with wireless charging support, meaning it could rock a glass back panel. Moreover, it will run on the Android 9 Pie OS. Interestingly it is suggested that it would also support Android Q update.
