Android 9 Pie Is Now Running On Over 10% of Devices: Google

Google recently updated its Android OS distribution numbers. Its been a while since they updated these numbers. The last update was done in October 2018. But, now as the Android 9 Pie has achieved a great number, they have updated the numbers.

Updated Android Distribution Numbers

Android 9 Pie has achieved the status of running on more than 10% of devices two months prior to Android Oreo. For comparison, Oreo was launched in August 2017, while the Pie was launched in August 2018. Android Oreo crossed the 10% mark on July 2018. Fast forward, Android Pie achieved this feat in May 2019.

However, Android 8.0 and 8.1 oreo percentage also grew to run on a total of 28.3% of devices. Both Android Oreo and Pie are based on the Project Treble Foundation which allows the makers to update their phones easily.

The data is collected from the Android devices accessing the PlayStore during the 7 day period ending on May 7, 2019. In other news during the I/O 2019 event, Google also stated that a total of 2.5 billion devices are currently running on Android as monthly active devices.
