Finally, Microsoft launches Cortana and Alexa. What are these? These are the virtual assistant in your Android mobile. You have a virtual Google assistant already installed on your device which is known as Google assistant. Many users were getting bored and wanted to try a different assistant on their device which will help more effectively. This guide will help you to replace your google assist and have a new assist which will be Alexa or Cortana as per your preference.

There are many assists in the Android market according to your usage and convenience but these are the standard virtual assists. You can try Alexa and Cortana select the one which you find more convenient to use and you can continue with it.

Replace Google Assistant With Cortana or Amazon Alexa

You cannot wake Alexa/Cortana directly with the words. You have to use Google assist wake command to fire them up. For example, if you want to open Alexa use the voice command as “Ok google… open Alexa”.

Steps to use Alexa/Cortana on Android and replace Google Assistant

Step 1: Download and install your preferred assistant from Google play store from the download links in the previous section.

Step 2: Go to Settings > Apps and notifications.

Step 3: Tap on Default apps > Assist & voice input.

Step 4: Tap on Assist app > Select Alexa/Cortana > Tap on Ok.

Step 5: Close the Settings. Hold the middle button and your assist will be fired up immediately.

 

Step 6: You can also open the Alexa by voice command by saying “Hey Google… open Alexa”.

Note: This method will work on all Android devices.
