Installing Xposed Framework is pretty easy and safe if you follow all the below steps correctly. But it is always a good practice to take a full backup of your Android device before proceeding with tweaking your device! And hey, one more thing, please note that you take sole responsibility for whatever good or bad comes out for your device by following this tutorial.

Xposed Framework for Android Pie

Xposed Framework for Android Pie was only a dream until a couple of months ago but is now possible. But developer solohsu‘s unofficial port for Xposed called as EdXposed has brought the Xposed Framework for Android Pie a reality. Now all new Android devices running Android Pie can have the Xposed Framework Installed on them. EdXposed is based on the “Riru platform” by developer RikkaW. Hence, to install EdXposed, you will also need to install the core Riru Magisk module on your Android Pie device.

For those who are not in the know, Xposed Framework is an API or a framework which provides access to the core features and functionalities of the Android Operating System. Xposed Framework kind-of acts as a backdoor to the powerful Android Core functionalities and provides access to the developers to take advantage of the same. Pretty anything you can imagine can be achieved with Xposed Framework and there are several ‘Xposed Modules‘ available for that. Every Xposed Module offers different functionality.

Without much further ado, let us jump into the steps to install Xposed Framework on Android Pie.

Install Xposed Framework on Android Pie devices

This is a two-step process and we have covered all the steps in a very detailed manner. Here they are:

For this procedure, you need to have an Android device rooted with Magisk. If you have followed any other root approach or have an unrooted device, this is not for you.

Step 1. Install ‘Riru Core’ for Xposed Framework

  1. Open the Magisk Manager App on your Android Pie device.
  2. Tap on the menu button in the top-left corner.
  3. From the menu that appears, tap on Downloads.
  4. Tap on the search button in the top-right corner and search for ‘Riru – Core‘.Xposed-For-Android-Pie-1
  5. Tap on the download button next to the Riru – core in the search results that are displayed.
  6. From the pop-up box, tap on INSTALL to install the module.Xposed-For-Android-Pie-2

The module will be installed and you will be presented with a status screen with an option to reboot. Do not reboot your device; simply use the back button to go back to the downloads page.

Step 2. Install EdXposed Magisk Module

  1. Tap on the menu button in the top-left corner.
  2. From the menu that appears, tap on Downloads.
  3. Tap on the search button in the top-right corner and search for ‘EdXposed‘.
  4. Tap on the download button next to the Riru – EdXposed (SandHook) in the search results that are displayed.
  5. From the pop-up box, tap on INSTALL to install the module.

The module will be installed and you will be presented with a status screen with an option to reboot. Reboot your device by selecting the reboot option.

Xposed Modules for Android Pie

Once the above steps are complete and the device reboot, look for an app called EdXposed Manager on your app drawer. If you have previous used the Xposed Manager App, then you would find it very similar to the traditional Xposed Installer app. You can download new modules from the ‘Downloads’ section of the app and you can manage the installed modules from the ‘Modules’ section.

Which Xposed Modules are compatible with Android Pie?

Well, below are a few ways to find Xposed Modules for Android Pie:

  1. Look for the recently updated modules. Old modules may not support the latest Android versions. You can easily find recently updated modules by selecting ‘Sort by the last update‘ option in the Downloads page.
  2. Read the description of the Xposed Modules carefully before downloading. More often than not, developers let the users know of the compatibility.
  3. Do not download Xposed Modules targeted for specific devices. For example, there are Xposed Modules targeted for OnePlus device which will not work on other OEM devices
